April 2007 General Conference

Visiting teachers are encouraged to select their message from the proceedings of the April 2007 general conference.

Thanks to Virginia for sharing what she chose to give her message one!

I chose to do Bonnie D, Parkin's talk on
"Gratitude a path to happiness" I used your "Be Thankful" poem, and because the author is unknown, I changed the word thankful to grateful throughout the
poem.

this has a typo in it we are getting it fixed!

Ideas for Home Teachers (from the Ensign)

After prayerfully studying this message, share it using a method that encourages the participation of those you teach. Following are some examples:

  • 1. Show the article and a picture of President Hinckley. Explain that one of the prophet’s main roles is to teach and testify. Invite family members to take turns reading aloud a section that interests them. Testify of the importance of following the prophet.
  • 2. Invite one family member to stand in a place where he or she can see things that no one else can. Ask that person to describe what he or she sees. Explain the role of a seer (see Mosiah 8:15–17). Read selections from the article. How do these statements from our prophet improve our spiritual vision?
  • 3. Bring objects to represent sections in the article (the scriptures, a picture of a temple or of the Savior, and so on). Read the corresponding sections, and discuss how we can know these concepts came from our Heavenly Father. Testify that we can know the truth through the power of the Holy Ghost.

They Marked the Path to Follow

By President Thomas S. Monson
First Counselor in the First Presidency

Oct 2007 HT.pdf

Ideas for Home Teachers

After prayerfully studying this message, share it using a method that encourages the participation of those you teach. Following are some examples:

  • 1. Have family members try to draw something unfamiliar (for example, a map of a faraway country or a unique flower). Then provide a picture of the object, and have them draw it again. How do models help us? Relate President Monson’s statements on using prophets as models for life. Share a personal experience illustrating how a prophet’s example helped you.
  • 2. Ask, “Whom do people in the world follow today? What qualities do these men and women possess?” Compare the righteous examples mentioned in the article with the world’s examples. Challenge the family to choose and emulate a spiritual trait exemplified by these righteous men and women.
  • 3. If the family has young children, have them mimic your actions. Clap your hands, nod your head, and so on. Discuss the meaning of following someone’s example. Ask family members to think of righteous examples, and use the article to complement their responses. Conclude with President Monson’s testimony of Jesus Christ being the greatest example to follow.

JANVIER 2007 (January 2007)
