Primary Depot

Shared by: Karen Mendenhall

Our Auxiliary Meeting went fantastic. We used the Primary Depot theme. We decorated with two ladders and a wood plank in between. On the plank we had used paint cans that we had made labels for (faith, testimony, love, train, encourage, create, etc) also some tools from the shed. We all wore the little orange aprons donated to us by Home Depot and had everyone put their names on them. We sat everyone  according to their calling. All presidents in one section etc. We  included Nursery and Music this time. Each section had little signs  for them on dowel sticks in cans with concrete. The cans were just vegggie cans sprayed black. One of our 11 year old scouts made them  for us as his service project for 2nd class rank in scouting. After  our opening where I talked about the Home Depot Perspectives as they  correlate with the Primary Depot perspectives ( I got them off the
Home Depot webpage) I turned time over to our resident building  contractor (high councilor over primary) he did a cute analogy and dressed a PP as a builder, tool belt and all and talked about proper tools for every job, qualified people, and a quality product. It was  fun, the Stake PP all wore orange hard hats donated by a local
contactor for that night. We sang the new CSMP song as it went along  with the building a strong primary theme. Then we dismissed them to their 'construction sites' (workshops specific to their calling) and told them since they are 'Union Workers' we needed to make sure they got a break. We had homemade cinnamon rolls in the white styrofoam containers (Costoco) and hot chocolate/hot cider in Gott Coolers for them to drink. We had the hot cups w/lids like Starbucks (also from Costco) then they went to training. It was really great and we had a
lot of positive feed back. We had 97% attendance and this was in conflict with the stake semi-final football game for the high school, pretty impressive. Our invites were in a large mainilla enveope w/ a hammer for the president and the counselors, nursery, music all had nails on their "Come to the Primary Depot and let us help you build a
strong primary by nailing your calling!" So much fun!
