Cute VT Song |
|
Sung to Popcorn
Popping tune:
I looked out my window and what did I see?
Two visiting teachers were smiling at me.
They had brought me such a nice surprise...
Kindness and compassion right before my eyes
They gave me a big hug that brought great cheer
They offered to help and lend a listening ear
They sure made my day, and I'm glad see
That my Sisters in Zion are thinking of me. |

ONLY A VISITING TEACHER |
I'M JUST A VISITING TEACHER |
|
ONLY A VISITING TEACHER
"I 'm only a visiting teacher,"
She said and her head hung low.
"I'm really not very important -
"I guess I'll not even go."
"I'm sure no one will miss me,
No one will even care.
I'll use this time for my own work
Instead of going there."
So she hurried around all morning,
Her house was polished and swept.
Then stopping to rest for a moment
She sat in her chair and slept-
And scarcely had her eyes f1uttered
Before a vision came to her sight,
And standing there before her
Was a personage clothed in white.
She saw in His hands the nail prints,
His brow where thorns had lain,
His side where the sword had pieced it,
His face with its look of pain.
"I gave you some work to do,"
It seemed she heard Him say.
"You thought it of no importance,
You stayed at home today."
"You did not deliver my message,
You did not feed my sheep.
You only swept and polished
And stayed at home to sleep."
"Oh Master," she cried, "Forgive me I pray,
That I should fail to see,
That had I done it unto the least of these,
I would have done it unto thee."

I'M JUST A VISITING TEACHER
Author Unknown
"I'm just a visiting teacher,"
I said to my friend today.
And my father in Heaven heard me,
And I seemed to hear him say:
"Not just a visiting teacher,
A disciple with work to do,
And wherever you carry my message
My spirit goes with you."
"Some daughters of mine with burdens
Some seem to have lost the way
Go take them my love and my gospel
To strengthen them day by day."
"Never say you're just a visiting teacher,
Have faith and you'll understand
When you enter a home with love and prayer --
I take you by the hand."

The Friend Who Just Stands By |
The ABC's of Friendship |
|
The Friend Who Just Stands By
When trouble comes your soul to try
You love the friend who just "stands by."
Perhaps there's nothing he can do.
The thing is strictly up to you;
For there are troubles all your own,
And paths the soul must tread alone
Times when love cannot smooth the road
Nor friendship lift the heavy load,
But just to know you have a friend
Who will "stand by" until the end,
Whose sympathy through all endures
Whose warm handclasp is always yours
It helps, somehow, to pull you through
Although there's nothing he can do.
And so with fervent heart you cry
"God bless the friend who just stands by'!"

The ABC's of Friendship
Accepts you as you are
Believes in "you"
Calls you just to say "HI"
Doesn't give up on you
Envisions the whole of you
(even the unfinished parts)
Forgives your mistakes
Gives unconditionally
Helps you
Invites you over
Just because
Keeps you close at heart
Loves you for who you are
Makes a difference in your life
Never Judges
Offers support
Picks you up
Quiets your fears
Raises your spirits
Says nice things about you
Tells you the truth when you need to hear it
Understands you
Values you
Walks beside you
Xxoxoxoxxxoooxxoxo
Yells when you won't listen and
Zaps you back to reality

If |
Dear Visiting Teacher |
|
If
A poem for Visiting Teachers
If you can love each woman that you visit,
Because she is a mother at home;
If you can find in each a lovely virtue-
Then finding it be sure to pass it on;
If you can disregard the littered parlor
Or dirty dishes that you're sure to find;
But take your message to the one who lives there
And make her feel you're friendly, wise and kind.
If you can sympathize where there is sorrow,
Can calm the troubled waters where there's strife;
If you can make her know that her tomorrows
Hold more than just the struggles of this life;
If you can help wherever help is needed,
Can share with her joys, as well as tears;
If you can leave her one thought or inspiration
For her to carry with her through the years.
If she can confide in you where she's troubled,
And know that you, her confidence will keep;
If you can help a tired or weary Mother
To make a bed, or rock a child to sleep;
If you can do these things, and all the others
That I am sure are there for you to do,
Yours is a mission not unlike the Master's
And blessings will be given unto you.
|
Dear Visiting Teacher:
You are a chosen messenger of the Relief Society
You are a link connecting each woman with her organization
To the sick you are the angel of mercy
To the shut-in you are sunlight
To the bereaved you are sympathy and understanding
To the lonely you are a friend in need
To the patient you are the hope of forgiveness
To the inactive member you are a challenge – a call to duty
To the doubtful you are the answer to questions
To the active member you are a reminder of her blessings
To all who know you, you are a symbol of love and devotion.

7-Up |
|
Here is an idea that was sent to me, it is really cute!
At our most recent RS board meeting the presidency gave each sister a
can of 7-Up with the following attached to it:
It might be "SODA" tough but I know you "CAN" do "7-UP" lifting
things to improve your gospel knowledge in the next 7 days. Your
"THIRST" for knowledge will be quenched and the feeling, like the
"CAN", is "RECYCLABLE". You "CAN" have it over and over again, as
you continue to "UP" lift your gospel knowledge.
The card was attached to the can with a green rubber band, trimmed
with lots and lots of silver curling ribbon.
This would make a cute handout for VT, a lesson in RS, etc.
I have put this little saying on to three different layouts that you can attach to the 7 UP, See if you like them!

Tri-fold for VT Handout |
|
The info in the tri-fold is gleaned from all over so I
can't feel good about putting my name on it. We used it for our
conference last year and our theme was Dear to the Heart of the
Shepherd.
Many, many thanks for your sharing! Sister K.
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER AND SHARING THIS
FOR ALL TO USE!!

Angels on Errand
(in Spanish
ANGELES SIRVIENDO CON ESMERO)
She wept as she knelt beside her bed;
"Father, please hear my prayer," she said.
I need a friend, I feel so alone,"
Her prayer was soon ended by the sound of the phone.
"Hello, I hope I'm not bothering you at all,
But I suddenly felt the need to call."
The loneliness soon faded away
As a bond of sisterhood was strengthened that day.
A heart cried out, A prayer was heard,
Because an Angel heeded a call to serve.
One Sister sat at her desk with a pen
Working on a lesson for church again.
Week after week she faithfully prepared,
But she wondered, "Does anyone really care?"
"I'm doing my best to answer my call,
But am I making any difference at all?"
What joy she found in the mail that day
when a note of gratitude came her way.
"Just want you to know we appreciate
your wonderful lessons-- they are so great!"
That simple note was such a gift,
She had really needed that little lift.
She was blessed by an angel who had taken time
to write a note so sweet and kind.
Another was feeling completely run down;
She felt overwhelmed as she looked around
at the dishes and laundry and dinner still to make
and knew this was the day she would finally break!
Then a knock at the door, a friend stopping by
"I was thinking of you, thought I'd come to say 'Hi.'"
The tears welled up, the friend jumped in,
She washed all the dishes, got some laundry put in.
She helped make the dinner, gave a hug, then went on her way;
Another Angel was on errand that day.
So many lives, So many needs,
So many Angels who do thoughtful deeds.
When promptings come, let us never fail
To heed them quickly, for we can never tell
When our Errands as Angels will be a part
Of an answer to prayer in a Sister's heart.
