There is no calling in Relief Society that requires greater tact, better judgment, keener insight, more prayerful preparation, deeper sincerity of purpose, or a warmer heart than that of Visiting Teaching.
Answer the following questions very truthfully. This will be your own record for you to evaluate yourself.
1. In your personal prayers are you praying for guidance to fulfill your visiting teaching responsibilities?
2. Do you assume equal responsibility with your partner in seeing that your sisters are visited and cared for?
3. Do you contact your partner early in the month and set a date for visiting teaching?
4. Do you try your best to work with your companion and your sisters when setting up appointments?
5. Do you go with your partner or arrange for someone else to go with you?
6. Together do you and your partner discuss and adapt the message to your sisters?
7. Are you taking your children with you?
8. Are you making appointments?
9. Do you wear a dress?
10. Are you praying as partners before you visit?
11. Do you remember your sisters’ birthdays?
12. Are you trying to recognize the sisters talents and give sincere compliments?
13. Do you refrain from talking about yourself and listen with interest to your sisters?
14. Are you sensitive to unspoken needs?
15. Do you refrain from gossiping and leave your sisters uplifted by your visits?
16. Are you reporting any urgent needs or special problems to the president?
17. Do you keep problem situations in the homes you visit confidential?
18. Do you give your sisters your name and phone number so they can contact you when you are needed?
19. Do you resent taking food into a sister’s home when asked?
20. Do you employ empathy as you judge conditions in the homes you visit?
21. Are you attending Relief Society?
22. Are you informing your sisters of Relief Society and inviting them to join you?
23. Do you communicate with your sisters more than once a month?
24. Do you call your supervisor after you have completed your visiting teaching?
25. Do you have a spirit of love for your sisters in your district?
26. Do you have a spirit of love for your partner?
27. Do you know what is happening in Relief Society on HFPE evening?
28. Do you encourage your sisters to participate in the ward programs such as HFPE, recreation, Sunday meetings, ward activities, food production group, temple day, special firesides, stake activities?
29. Do your have a testimony of your importance to the visiting teaching in the ___________ ward?
