VT interview by Sister Bonnie Parkin interviewing a sister in her ward. |
l. Begin with prayer with the sister you are interviewing.
2. Praise her for her strengths. Ask her about her family,
life, job, etc. to establish a caring atmosphere.
3. Talk about each sister that she visits, individually.
4. Give the sister ample time to talk, and listen attentively.
5. Offer support from the RS presidency and Bishop, if necessary.
6. Ask appropriate questions about the sisters. Find out:
a. What are the challenges of each sister.
b. How is her spiritual and temporal well-being
c. What resources each sister has.
d. What callings or support she might need to provide growth or
inspire positive changes.
7. More listening....
8. Take notes!
9. Offer encouragement such as, "Your consistency will bless
her life..." or "You will succeed because..."
10. Ask the sister what her plan of action might include.
Don't give all the answers, but rather let her come up with some possible
solutions.
11. Make sure the VT feels your support, as well as knows how to get
Priesthood support, if needed.
12. Leave her feeling loved and appreciated.
