Promise to the Young Women at the General Young Women’s Broadcast -
March 29, 2008
“I testify that by the Spirit of
Christ and by the Holy Ghost you may walk confidently in whatever
difficulties will come. Because you are so valuable some of your trials may
be severe. You need never be discouraged or afraid. The way through
difficulties has always been prepared for you and you will find it if you
exercise faith. You must have faith to pray. You must have faith to ponder
the word of God. You must have faith to do those things and go to those
places which invite the Spirit of Christ and the Holy Ghost.
I promise you that within the next few
days you will feel the illumination of the Spirit of Christ and the Holy
Ghost in your every day life. When you walk in the light you will feel at
that moment some of the warmth and happiness that will finally be yours when
you are welcomed home again with the hundreds and perhaps thousands of
others who you will bring with you who have walked in the light because you
did.”

FROM THE FIRST
PRESIDENCY
This book is
designed as a companion to your study of the
scriptures and the teachings of latterday prophets.
We encourage you to refer to it as you study and
apply gospel principles. Use it as a resource when
you prepare talks, teach classes, and answer
questions about the Church. As you learn gospel
truths, you will increase in your understanding of
Heavenly Father’s eternal plan. With this
understanding as a foundation for your life, you
will be able to make wise choices, live in harmony
with God’s will, and find joy in living. Your
testimony will grow stronger. You will remain true
to the faith.
We are especially
mindful of youth, young single adults, and new
converts. We promise you that through regular
personal prayer and study of the scriptures and the
doctrines of the gospel you will be prepared to
withstand evil influences that would deceive you and
harm you.
May this book
strengthen you in your efforts to draw near to the
Savior and follow His example.
