VIRTUE

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10

I will prepare to enter the temple and remain pure and worthy. My thoughts and actions will be based on high moral standards.

Personal Progress Content for Young Women Value of Virtue
It is here! We hope you will immediately begin working on the new experiences and project associated with the value of Virtue. Implementation instructions and a Personal Progress Virtue insert are now available. These items will also be mailed to priesthood leaders in the coming weeks. A revised Personal Progress Record Sheet and Achievement Certificate are available

A new value, so we have the need for all new stuff, if you have anything to share in any of these section, please email then to us! Thanks info@theideadoor.com

I read this on a YW list, and thought I would share (some of you may have already seen this if you are on the list) but just in case you missed it, now of course this is not right from the church, just a Sister who is telling what she heard, so things might be a little different, but it gives us a little more info!
I will be watching the churches web site for more info!

We had a multi-stake leadership mtg. last night with Sister Cook from the YW Gen.
Presidency. She showed us the insert for "virtue" to be placed in the Personal progress books.
She said it will be available online in about a week. But the interesting thing is, it has one and only one value project: To read the Book of Mormon in one year. (She emphasized that if they take the challenge issued to them in A Brand New Year to read 5 min a day they would easily meet this goal in a year) And there are 4 value experiences for virtue. 4 and only 4 and they are all mandatory. The first involves defining virtue. She emphasized that when they say "virtue" they are specifically talking about "chastity" and they are afraid that our YW don't get that. Second, is about qualifying for the Holy Ghost. Third is about Temple worthiness and fourth is about Repentance. She said that they are also asking all the Mothers and YW leaders to complete these experiences and projects for Virtue as well. I was so excited. I think this is so inspired and so marvelous I just had to share. She said that originally they had it set up similar to the other values with some mandatory some optional experiences and several ideas for the project. They submitted it to Elder Nelson and he came back with the comment to not be afraid to elevate and keep the dignity of "Virtue", to make it meaningful and not a task list.
So they went back to work and this is what they came up with. She also said that the number one question they got when they announced this was, What is the color? She said Sister Dalton immediately told them "Gold, because gold has to be refined to be pure." I just want to cry I think it is so awesome!!

A Return to Virtue
"Now is the time for a return to virtue!"

The attribute and value of Virtue has been added to the Young Women theme. "Virtue is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards. It encompasses chastity and moral purity."

The time has come for the young women of the Church to lead the world in a return to virtue. This is the time to be pure and to qualify for the guidance of the Holy Ghost. In the coming year, it is our desire that all young women and their leaders focus on the meaning of virtue, what young women can do to accept and act upon this value, and how this attribute can strengthen young women as they prepare to be worthy to make and keep sacred covenants and receive temple ordinances.

We will distribute through local priesthood leaders and also post online the Personal Progress value experiences and projects associated with this value. We desire all young women to complete and be recognized for completing this value, in addition to the seven values listed in the Personal Progress book. You may want to study the following scriptural references as you contemplate a return to virtue.

"I believe one virtuous young woman led by the Spirit can change the world."

What does it mean to be virtuous? Consider:

How can I best teach the value of Virtue in my home and to the young women?
What are the promised blessings of living a virtuous life?
What makes the gospel definition of Virtue different from the world's definition?

Additional Instructions for Leaders:

  • We invite young women and Young Women leaders to immediately include the addition of Virtue as they repeat the Young Women theme.

  • Virtue will be added to the Personal Progress value experiences and projects. Instructions on how to implement this change in Personal Progress will be forthcoming.

  • Until this new content arrives, young women should continue their work in the current Personal Progress booklet. Those young women who have already received their Young Womanhood Recognition will have the opportunity to complete these new requirements for Virtue.

  • The color associated with this value is gold. The scripture and statement associated with the Young Women value of Virtue will be part of the Personal Progress update and instructions.

  • A revision of the Young Women theme poster and Young Women theme card will be made available in the coming months.

The Virtues of Righteous Daughters of God

Many people do not fully understand the meaning of virtue. Virtue is our safeguard and our guiding star that stirs up reason when our senses err.” May I suggest 10 virtues that each of you can pursue in your quest for excellence and happiness: 1.

A Return to Virtue

Elaine S. Dalton

Their virtue and commitment to be “true at all times” changed the world! 11 I truly believe that one virtuous young woman or young man, led by the Spirit, can change the world, but in order to do so, we must return to virtue. I testify that a return to virtue is possible because of the Savior’s example and the “infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice.” 22 I testify that we will be enabled and strengthened not only to do hard things but to do all things.

Living as Women of Virtue

We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. The home is the cradle of virtue, the place where character is formed and habits are established” (“Opposing Evil,” Ensign, November 1975, 38–39).

Let Virtue Garnish Thy Thoughts Unceasingly

Gordon B. Hinckley

It reads as follows: “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven. “The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and wi... Here is a bookmark that was sent to me

Hi again, tonight I made a bookmark/handout for my young women.  For my "Christmas Lesson" my YW will be watching the Gen Conference address from Pres. Dalton  on Virtue.
I thought you might like to see it. You may share it if you like.

Virtue “is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards.”6 It encompasses chastity and moral purity.

Virtue begins in the heart and in the mind. It is nurtured in the home. It is the accumulation of thousands of small decisions and actions.

Virtuous women and men possess a quiet dignity and inner strength. They are confident because they are worthy to receive and be guided by the Holy Ghost.

President Monson has counseled: “You be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow.

There is no friendship more valuable than your own clear conscience, your own moral cleanliness—and what a glorious feeling it is to know that you stand in your appointed place clean and with the confidence that you are worthy to do so.”
