Temple Paper Molds Temple Paper Molds

I know that Betty's Crafts in Layton Utah carries them. They used to rent them out or you could purchase them.  They also have the paper and the additive.  You could call them to see if they would ship it to you.

Their phone number is 801-544-1396.  Their address is: 132 S. Fort Lane, Layton, UT 84041

To make the molds:
Tear the "special" paper into pieces and place in your blender.  (This will not harm your blender)  Add the paper additive and water.  Puree until mushy.  Spray mold with a little Pam or cooking spray.  (Not too much or your cast will yellow a little from the oil.)  Add paper mixture to the mold.  Using your hands and towels, push paper into mold crevices and push out excess water.  I would have plenty of paper towels on hand.  The more
water you are able to get out of the mold and the hard the paper is pressed into the crevice, the better the outline of the temple.  Microwave the mold for a few minutes. Follow the directions on the paper package.  Using a knife, lift the cast out of the mold.  (It will be very hot)  If the shape isn't the way you like it, you can toss the cast back into the blender and start over.  You may need to add more water.

You can place the cast on a mat or in a shadow box for display.  You can also color the casts with chalk or add embellishments to the mat, like a doily or pearls and beads.

Just a tip, It does take a few minutes to push the water out of the cast and to cook each cast, especially if the girls get picky on how theirs should look.  I would recommend having more than one mold if you have a large group.  I would also have another temple type activity for the girls not working on their mold.  Otherwise it could get a little chaotic with the girls having nothing to do and only one girl at a time doing the mold.

Good Luck, Jennie

This is a website that explains how to make handcast paper items.

I bought Salt Lake Temple molds at Mormon Handicraft a few years ago - they
might still have them.
Good Luck,
Elaine

We used TP--yes, T.P.!  Just put some in a blender, cover with water and
mix until pulpy!  Then you pour the slush into the mold, cover with a
dishcloth, drain out any excess water.  Then pop it into the microwave for
about 3 minutes.  It is very easy...it's just kinda hard to make a lot of
them at once--you need blenders and microwaves!  We did a Temple
questionnaire as we worked, so the girls at the table, waiting their turns,
had something to focus on.
   Hope this helps!

Temple Slippers Poem Temple Slippers Poem

I see you dressed in white......
Entering the Holy Temple.

I see you with a calling
a sacred calling.. to be a wife
and mother in Zion.

I see you at His altar..... Kneeling
there, with him.... The One with whom
you've chosen to share all Eternity.

These slippers are for you to wear
as you begin this journey... a valiant
servant in the kingdom....
That's the You I see!!!!!!

Angel in White

What a beautiful and blessed sight
As I see you dressed all in white
Entering the temple of the Lord
Sacred and Holy, as is His Word

And in the wonder of it all
I see you accept the sacred call
A call you bear with the strength of a lion
That of a wife and mother in Zion

At the altar, your chosen one and you
I see kneeling together, both worthy and true
Your hearts being sealed in unity, as one
For eternity, long past time on earth is done

These slippers are a gift, for you to wear
As you begin your journey, a maiden fair
I know your valiant strength will see you through
For that is the angel I see in you

Temple Slippers

Sweet daughter of God, the path you tread
That's brought you here today
Is but a tiny stepping stone
To help you on your way.

Keep in mind that Heavenly hosts
Will guard you day and night
If you'll but follow the gospel plan
And strive to choose the right.
You'll find no matter where you go,
Nor in spite of all you do
Satan watches your every move
In the hope of trapping you.

Be steadfast in the Young Women values
That you've grown to hold so dear
And as the Evil one rages on
You'll have no cause to fear.

These precious temple shoes will serve
As a reminder to walk prayerfully
So your steps can guide you to the temple
To receive the blessings of eternity.

So, walk in truth and righteousness
Firmly grasping the iron rod
Simply follow in Christ's footsteps
As He leads you home to God.

Temple Transparencies Temple Transparencies

We are making 8 1/2 x 11 framed pictures using a transparency of the temple with the words, Stand In Holy Places. The transparency is placed over a mirror and then framed.

On the Church website go to temples (list on left side).  go to alphabetical  listing under individual temples (again list on left side).  Find the one you want.  Then go to media information.  There should be a listing of  photos.  These are all high resolution photos, so they can be printed at a larger format.  That sounds like a great craft though.

You can purchase transparencies of all kinds from a lady named Mrs. Chase. I think her business in the called the Gold Leaf Connection. Her phone # is 801-968-4066. I like getting them from her because I know we're not violating copyright laws when using them. We need to be careful about violating copyrights when we copy and mass produce.
Give her a call and see what her prices are.
