What Is New Beginnings?

New Beginnings is
an annual event teaching the purposes of the
Young Women organization. It includes an
orientation to the Personal Progress program and
to the Young Women theme, logo, motto, and
values. It is usually held at the ward or branch
level.
Why Do We Have New Beginnings?
The purposes
of New Beginnings include the following:
- Teach
young women and their parents about the
Young Women organization.
- Provide
an opportunity to encourage parents to help
young women in Personal Progress
experiences.
- Provide
an opportunity for leaders to express love
for young women and acknowledge their
accomplishments.
- Help
young women and parents plan for events of
the coming year.
When Is New Beginnings Held?
New Beginnings
is held at the beginning of the calendar year.
It may be held during Mutual.
Who Is Invited to New
Beginnings?
Young women,
their parents, and priesthood and Young Women
leaders are invited to New Beginnings.

women who have turned 12 in the past year
)
How Do We Plan New Beginnings?
Class
presidencies plan the New Beginnings program
under the direction of the ward Young Women
presidency. A member of the Laurel class
presidency may conduct the program.
The program
could include some or all of the following
elements:

Recognition of young
women who have turned 12, moved into the
ward, or joined the Church in the past year
-
Recognition for Personal Progress
accomplishments
- Music
- Talks by
members of the ward, such as parents, young
women, and priesthood leaders
-
Presentations and skits
- Review of
events planned for the coming year
