Hi! We had a progressive dinner earlier this year and it turned out
really good. We used the new mutual theme for the spiritual side of the
evening. We started with opening exercises at the church then...
1st house=appetizer (my mom did this one for us and had little weenies
and cheese cubes and vegetables w/dip) SEARCH DILLIGENTLY we had a
little game prepared that took a very short amount of time: our secretary
brought several little toys from her house and everyone picked one, then
while they had the appetizer we hid them and they had to search to find
it, then she spoke briefly about searching the scriptures for answers.
2nd house=salad (our stake YW pres did this...just a green salad) PRAY
ALWAYS our 2nd counselor read a touching story from one of John Bytheway's
books while they ate the salad
3rd house=(our Stake president's wife made the best chili...it was
February and cold and rainy) BE BELIEVING while they ate I just read a
quick quote from president Hinckley in the JAN New Era (where it breaks
down the new theme) we were running out of time so it had to be short.
Then back to the church for dessert. I had planned to have a discussion
about ALL THIS WILL BE FOR YOUR GOOD but like I said we were out of time
so I thanked them for the respect they showed at the homes we visited and
gave them a bookmark I made...I think I got it from the files section…I
don't remember.
Just a bit of advise**keep the houses close together. It was tough for us
because our ward is quite spread out. also stress to them to be respectful
to the homes to go to and to say thank you. other than that....it's a
really fun activity.
