*Each of us wants to be a good leader. As you strive to use the ideas
below, read the scriptural references (where the ideas are found), and
ponder on them, you will find yourself becoming a better leader.
*Rely on the Lord. The special strength and knowledge you will need can
come from the Lord, as you try to obey his commandments and seek him in
prayers (see Psalm 37:3; Alma 37:37; D&C 19:23 and 104:82).
*Study the Scriptures. As you read and study the scriptures, you will
receive insights to help you make decisions (see John 5:39; D&C 33:16).
*Recognize the Spirit. Seek quiet moments to think and pray about the
problems or decisions you must make, and then listen carefully. As you
strive to be teachable, you will begin to recognize the still small
voice (see John 14:26; 2Nephi 32:5; D&C 6:23 and 9:8).
*Set the example. Your example will teach more than any words you speak
(see 1 Timothy 4:12; D&C 106:8).
*Serve with Love. Love is vital to a good leader. Seek to feel God's
love for you and extend that love to others (see Proverbs 17:17; 2
Thessalonians 2:16-17; D&C 12:8).
*Be sensitive to needs. A good leader is, in fact, a servant--someone
who is concerned with the feelings and welfare of those around her. As
you strengthen and lift those you lead, you become more like the Savior
(see Thessalonians 3:13; Matthew 20:25-28; D&C 81:5 and 108:7). |
