Personal Progress Night

Treasure Hunt – Come and see what it is in the end of the Rainbow!

Objective – Introduce the Value Virtue to the girls. Also introduce the Ideas for 2009  & New Beginnings Program.

Invitation – Something with map/treasure hunt…not the rainbow as yet as the girls will already work it out the whole activity!! They are way tooooo clever J

Opening exercises – Laurels could decide who does what.

Activity 1 –

Treasure Hunt  As of this date of 30th of December we have not receive any more info about Virtue, than what it has been given since December, we will work around what we haveJ

The girls will be invited to find what is in the end of the Rainbow. While hunting they will learn the meaning of Virtue, on each clue will be written in a different Value Colour that form the “Rainbow” and it will be glued onto a chocolate golden coin.

Are the girls going to be in teams, like the Beehives with Beehives, Mia Maids with Mia Maids and Laurels with a Laurel?

At the end of the hunt, the hunt needs to be fun and quirky, like they will need to do strange things as they seek out the treasure…I am sure that the girls can create something great they will find the “Pot of Gold” full of bars of gold with the name virtue on it (one for each leader and girl). With a tag written something like:

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies – one virtuous young woman led by the Spirit can change the world.” I looooove this one…

Or…

“ Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven. The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever” D&C 121: 45-46

For the golden bars I thought we could do something with ‘sultanas boxes’…and find a way to give like an embossed look to the word VIRTUE. They were easy to make..

There are 7 clues are based/quoted from YW last writings/speeches on Virtue. Can we have different coloured flags to help them find their way to the pot of gold…………

1.      It is a part of you that no one else will know. But you know and the Lord knows. Would that be a white clue – like the value Faith ..would the clue give them an idea of where to go next?                                                  Answer   …………………………………………………………………………………..

2.      It is like a marathon, isn’t something that you have instantly. It is strict training. It is the daily, deliberate practice of small things   Blue clue – divine Nature

Answer………………………………………………………………………………………

3.      When you have it, you are strong. It is power and it is strength. Red clue and Answer………………………………………………………………………………….

4.      It is the power of a pure life. Green clue and answer

5.      It is a pattern of thought and behaviour based on high moral standards. Orrange

6.      It encompasses chastity and moral purity. Yellow

7.      It is one thing that is unique about Latter-day Saint young women. As you cherish it will take you to the temple.” Purple Answer

Words directing for the next clue, will be done as we decide where we could do the Treasure Hunt: Chapel… Leader house, a Small Park near by as it will still be bright, there is a cute “little one” compared to the one in Duncraig!! … just behind my house.

The Laurels together with Ellen and I will prepare the whole activity and set up the place, for the Mia Maids & Beehives J

As the girls get to the end of the Rainbow and receive their golden bars. One of the Laurels can give a little speech based on the talk “A Return to Virtue” from Sister Elaine S. Dalton. http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&;locale=0&sourceId=7c464bb52a73d110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&hideNav=1

At the end of this part , The Personal Progress Leader give a little speech associating  the meaning of rainbow – in the Irish and Greek culture as well as in and Bible  – to YW Values. And also clarify  that, Virtue will be added to the Personal Progress value experiences and projects. Instructions on how to implement this change in Personal Progress will be forthcoming. Until this new content arrives, young women should continue their work in the current Personal Progress booklet. Those young women who have already received their Young Womanhood Recognition will have the opportunity to complete these new requirements for Virtue.

If it is in the Chapel or Leader house…we can prepare in a room, a veeeery special Golden Palace, as Gooooolden as possible!!!  Where the girls can find the Rainbow & Golden pot! Huummm…I just thought that if we decide for the park behind my house… the last clue can take the girls to my place where we can do this special Golden Palace.

Activity 2 –

Goals  2009 & Preparing for New Beginnings.  We could have some ice cream or food the remind us  of gold or have the word gold on it…while the girls and leaders will then share/discuss  the Goals for 2009, what are the Values that they wish to complete by August 2008. And what are the responsibilities of each group regarding to our NB.

Plans/ideas for the NB, I aim to give to you all by Sunday, I just need to confirm with the stake what they are doing this Jan, for fireside, etc – as I’m not aware of their activities, in case we have the same ideas and get repetitive for the girls. If Sis Pilita doesn’t answer me by Friday, I will call her.

Closing Prayer  – by a Laurel
